4G Phone Technology

4G phone technology is fast becoming the standard in modern day communications. This technology allows for fairly significant leap over the current 3G phone technology standards, and unlike 3G cell phone technology which took a good 10 years to become prolific, 4G cellphone technology promises to become much more adopted at a much faster pace. Another great aspect of this technology is that it’s going to be applied to cell phone carriers who cater to people looking for cell phones with bad credit, just as much as the national major cell phone carriers and service providers.

One of the companies that is really spearheading and pushing forward with this new communication standard is Sprint. With their new HTC 4G phone aka the EVO, they are really attacking this market aggressively. In one of the major benefits of all these new 4G cell phones is the fact that they are backwards compatible with current 3G network standards see don’t have to feel like you are buying technology that isn’t currently compatible with existing standards. Verizon wireless, AT&T, and T-Mobile are also working on their own 4G networks that are currently expanding beyond the major cities where they are initially deployed.

The major benefit about 4G network phones is that they support real-time streaming of high-definition and other high-bandwidth media and data transfers. With the advent of high resolution and complicated browser gaming along with all the media consumption that is being consumed in high-definition, the current standards needed to be updated and upgraded. Apple is also developing our own 4G iPhone as well, so be on the lookout for that. Be sure that whatever model phone or network service provider that you end up going with to take advantage of this new technology, that you do plenty of research and look up sufficient reviews we were making any final purchases so that you get the best possible phone.

Using the Internet to Make Free International Calls

Thanks to the global market it is now more important than ever to stay in touch with colleagues, family, or other work relationships. Many times this can be an expensive endeavor as it is still not always cost effective to make international calls; it is also made more difficult by the time difference. Thanks to the arrival of the Internet it is now possible to make free calls to India and the rest of the world.

The technology that powers this revolution in communication is known as VOIP, or Voice Over Internet Protocol. The basic idea behind VOIP is that your voice is converted into a digital signal that is then translated into a language that computers can understand. It is sent over the Internet to the person that you are talking to on the other end. From there the signal is converted from the digital signal, back to your voice for the receiver to hear. By making your calls using the VOIP network you cut out the telephone companies lines, and send your message only through the Internet to make free international calls.

There are several ways to get started making free international calls using the VOIP network, but the easiest and one of the most popular ways is with an application called Skype. With Skype you can place free calls to anyone else on Skype; this allows you make free calls to India and the rest of the world. Skype is a simple application that connects to the VOIP network to make calls using the VOIP network, or place calls to land and cell phones for a fraction of the price of a normal phone call. To get started with Skype all you need to do is go to download and install the software and you can get started with your free VOIP calls immediately.

Another option for making international calls at a reduced rate are with calling cards or access numbers. Many times calling cards offer a group of minutes that are able to be used internationally at a fraction of the price you would normally pay with your regular telephone plan. By calling a certain number and entering your PIN number you are able to place phone calls to anywhere in the world. Access numbers allow you to make calls from your home phone number and talk to anyone on the VOIP network. This method also reduces the price of phone calls internationally, when it is combined with the VOIP network.

Motorola H17 Bluetooth Headset

Finding the world’s smallest bluetooth headset can be a real adventure if you are not aware of what you should be looking for. However, the Motorola H17 is perfect for those who want an unassuming piece of technology that functions just as well as some of the larger models.

The entire device is small enough that it fits over the ear and once you have it on, you probably will not be able to feel it. It is less than half an inch thick and not more than two inches long, making it comfortable to wear. Many people worry when purchasing an extremely small headset that the controls on it will be too hard to use to control the phone. Thankfully this is not true with the Motorola H17, which features a multifunctional call button and a volume rocker on the side for easy reaching.

The microphone is foldable and actually controls the device, when it is folded back on itself the device is off, but when you reach up and fold the device out, the bluetooth headset will be turned on. This is wonderful for anyone who wants to tie their cell and landlines together to receive calls on both, using the multifunctional button to decide which phone to answer on. A soothing voice tells you which call line you are getting the call from, as well as if any of your lines are muted or your battery is running low.

Perhaps the best feature of the Motorola H17 aside from its size is just how long the battery lasts. It will provide you with up to five hours of talk time and around seven days of standby time on a single charge. Another nice feature is the quick charge ability, which will allow you to charge two hours of talk time in only fifteen minutes, meaning if you find your device is running low in the middle of an important call, you can charge it quickly and get right back to the person you were talking to.

Overall, due to the size and the price of the Motorola H17, it is probably the best Bluetooth headset available in terms of size and features. While larger headsets might be able to provide you with slightly more talk time, they also grow cumbersome and heavy to wear in that time frame, making them much less comfortable than the H17.

Laptops and Microsoft – A Long History

Virtually anyone who has heard of a computer knows that Bill Gates and Paul Allen formed Microsoft in the mid nineteen seventies. They took the stand that the future of computing was using BASIC or Beginners All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code, to create software for computers. This was the beginning of the history of Microsoft and the start of the journey for laptop deals.

Bill Gates was still in college when he and Paul Allen had this little brainstorm and Bill Gates quit college to began their venture. By the early eighties, DOS was born and after it, the first Windows operating system was created. These early software programs were intended for use with the Apple home computer systems and later became the sole software for IBM computers.

In 1983, Microsoft revolutionized the computer by creating the Microsoft Mouse and began a publishing company that same year. Two years later, the Windows operating system saw its initial debut and the company went public a year after that. Stocks rose a staggering seven dollars on the first day they were public and continue to stay steady in the market with few drops in price.

In subsequent years, the Windows environment has taken on many changes and has seen some great and not so great upgrades which often come into play when choosing which laptop. Microsoft continues to set the industry standard for many forms of software as well as gaming systems and the games that go with them. They have also added other new gadgets to their arsenal of products and continue to come up with new ways to improve computing.

The history of Microsoft would not be complete without noting that Paul Allen left the company as an active participant because of an illness in the early eighties. He continues in business today as the owner of many diverse companies including the NFL team the Seattle Seahawks, the NBA team Portland Trailblazers as well other companies. He officially resigned from the board of Microsoft in 2000.

Touch Screen Computers by HP

Of the major makers of personal computers especially in the mobile laptop market, HP has its lion share of the touch screen sub division of the laptop market. With its desktop versions of the TouchSmart line, the company most recently released the TouchSmart 300 which offers a very spacious 20 inch touch sensitive display to go along with 4GB of SDRAM and a 500GB hard drive. The greatest problem with some of these HP computers is the AMD processor. It helps keep costs low but does little to compete against comparable computers offering Intel Core2 Duo processors which have been determined to be superior for most household applications.

But the desktop offers a lot more than the mobile version which is a convertible device that opens like a traditional laptop but can also rotate the display and become a full fledged touch screen laptop tablet which actually comes in handy. In tablet mode these HP touch screen laptops can be carried in the arms and is useful of making handwritten notes while sitting at a desk or on your feet. There are many known issues with these laptops by HP however. Many of these issues are shared by other laptops such as battery life concerns and their portability.

For the excitement and fun of owning a laptop that has multi touch recognition capability there is a little to be sacrificed. First, the HP touch screen laptop TX2 series is a little on the heavy side at 8.5 pounds. This is especially true since it is classified as an ultra portable device. The battery life is also a major concern since it seems to only offer about 2.5 hours under normal use. That makes this laptop not very mobile. The final concern is the processing power offered for the price. At the same cost, a much more powerful processor can be had in a different brand. Of course these other brands do not offer the same perks that come with HP branded laptops such as the sleek exterior design.

Two of the Best Flash Drives Reviewed

USB flash drives have evolved incredibly in the last few years. They have also completely revolutionized the way in which we approach data storage and use our computers. Not too many years ago the only reliable way of transferring data was by copying it onto a disk. You were limited in how much data you could carry. Disks were bulky and unreliable and you were forced to rely on the operating system and software of the destination computer to get access to the data.

These days you can download huge amounts of data on to USB flash drives such as the Kingston Data Traveller. One can carry movies, whole music collections, photos and data. Another change is that you can now carry a whole suite of software with you such as Open office and the like. That means that whatever computer you find yourself sitting at, you can open all of your own applications and work on your own data. I’ve found that some of the best USB flash drives include the SanDisk Cruzer Micro. This is my favourite because it is relatively fast, really compact and so far in my experience it has been utterly reliable. I have a variety of these flash drives ranging from the 4 gig version all the way up to the 16GB version. They also come in much bigger sizes, but I’ve found that the 16gig one seems to offer the best ratio of storage space to price. I also like the fact that it has U3 software installed. This allows you to run a whole lot of applications including open office as well as ones such as password keepers. A lot of people do not like U3 and erase. Whichever camp you fall into, you have to agree that it offers a lot of people a lot of convenience.

My eye was however recently drawn to a newer drive. This is the huge Kingston Data Traveller 256 GB. I was just blown away by the storage space that this offers since it is more than most small hard drives. I know that I am always filling up my flash drives and wishing I had more space. If you are in a data intensive business you really can cram a whole lot of stuff onto one of these and keep it in a tiny pocket sized package. That, in my mind, makes it another of the best USB flash drives that you can get out there.
