Ben 10 is a boy who gains the ability to turn himself into a variety of different aliens each with unique special powers. The story is a fantasy for many young children, and with the cartoon’s range of accompanying action figures toys, these fantasies can be played out in real life.

Who is Ben 10?

Ben Tennyson is a ten year old boy who, after discovering a device called the Omnitrix during a camping trip with his grandfather and cousin, gains the ability to morph into a variety of alien characters. With his new found skills, he decides to spend his summer alongside his grandfather and cousin fighting evil.

The show itself was created by “Man of Action” and produced by Cartoon Network for television. The pilot episode was first aired on December 27th, 2005 to promote Cartoon Networks Saturday morning line ups. Cartoon Network then went on to produce another two series: Ben 10 Alien Force and Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, as well as three feature length films for TV.

Which Figures Are Available?

Created alongside the successful Ben 10 television franchise, a modest selection of ten figures are available from the first series featuring; Ben, Kevin (his nemesis) and various alien life forms. These are available for between £4 and £9. For the second series, the range has been massively expanded to forty five figurines, offering a more varied selection of characters, vehicles and play sets for between £3 and £30 for some of the more elaborate toys.

What’s Next for Ben 10?

With the premiere of the new series, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, having been aired on April 23rd, 2010, the new range of Ben 10 action figures were shown at the New York Toy Fair. Produced by Bandai like the other Ben 10 toys, they are first being introduced in waves across the United States before spreading out to other countries before Christmas.
