Creating a Style with Daybed Bedding

Many of us have recognized the daybed as an exceptional piece of furniture with many uses.  With the new styling that has swept the furniture market, daybeds are available in a variety of styles and materials.  Perhaps, as much as anything it is the need to utilize the space we have in our smaller bedrooms, our home offices, or the family room, but as the need has arisen so has the design of the daybed.

Of course, let’s be very honest.  The daybed is just a frame, much like the frame around the portrait.  We all notice it, but the focus is on the daybed bedding or the picture.  Forced to turn their attention to covers for the piece of furniture, bedding manufacturers have gone the extra mile with style, colors and design.

For the home office a more fitted bedding ensemble can be used to cover the mattress.  Adding a bedskirt, especially designed for the daybed, can give the piece of furniture the look of an elegant sofa with a pleated skirt.  Using well stuffed pillow shams across the back can create the look of a comfortable, overstuffed sofa with clean lines that disguise the fact that it is most often laid upon when the home office worker needs to take a break.

For the country cottage with a shabby chic decor, the daybed can be transformed into a fluffy and colorful sofa suitable for a sitting room or a sun room.  With a floral pattern comforter used as the seat cover, a striped bedskirt and perhaps matching colors in plaid pillow shams, what home would not welcome the casual look of comfort.  Should a guest decide to stay over, stripping the covers away immediately creates a twin bed.
