Virtually anyone who has heard of a computer knows that Bill Gates and Paul Allen formed Microsoft in the mid nineteen seventies. They took the stand that the future of computing was using BASIC or Beginners All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code, to create software for computers. This was the beginning of the history of Microsoft and the start of the journey for laptop deals.

Bill Gates was still in college when he and Paul Allen had this little brainstorm and Bill Gates quit college to began their venture. By the early eighties, DOS was born and after it, the first Windows operating system was created. These early software programs were intended for use with the Apple home computer systems and later became the sole software for IBM computers.

In 1983, Microsoft revolutionized the computer by creating the Microsoft Mouse and began a publishing company that same year. Two years later, the Windows operating system saw its initial debut and the company went public a year after that. Stocks rose a staggering seven dollars on the first day they were public and continue to stay steady in the market with few drops in price.

In subsequent years, the Windows environment has taken on many changes and has seen some great and not so great upgrades which often come into play when choosing which laptop. Microsoft continues to set the industry standard for many forms of software as well as gaming systems and the games that go with them. They have also added other new gadgets to their arsenal of products and continue to come up with new ways to improve computing.

The history of Microsoft would not be complete without noting that Paul Allen left the company as an active participant because of an illness in the early eighties. He continues in business today as the owner of many diverse companies including the NFL team the Seattle Seahawks, the NBA team Portland Trailblazers as well other companies. He officially resigned from the board of Microsoft in 2000.
