Urban Outfitters have hit the marketing nail on its head by using Flickr to interact with their customers. Free advertising for them and also an insightful way to see how their customers use their products.

Flickr is a fantastic and creative tool in connecting with your consumers and most importantly it’s free and easy to set up. You can create groups or ‘pools’ such as what Urban Outfitters has done or competitions, like what the Hayward Gallery is currently doing to engage with their customers; by asking to take pictures from the inspiration they gained after seeing the Rodchenko exhibition.

The V&A museum in London has also used Flickr to record its fantastic late night events. Visitors simply upload their photos from the nights and the V&A gets free press and photographic coverage. Who needs a PR department anymore?
